800 jobs for 20 years?

800 jobs in the shorts aircraft factory in belfast have been secured for 20 years with the signing of a contact for the next generation of 100+ seat jets , is'nt that great news , but i did not see it on the bbc or itv news

why is that , or do they only worry about london

  2. 800 jobs for the nest 20yrs   I would not bet on it.

    Look at Boeing if there is a slowdown people WILL get layoff, besides there is no such thing as job security anymore (look at Inbev)

  3. It was on the BBC breakfast news yesterday (14th), It covers provisional manufacture of 30 C-series aircraft for Luthansa.

  4. That's crazy.  Nobody can say "Oh, we're going to give you a job for the next 20 years doing Thing X".   Even a planned economy like the Soviet Union (which didn't work by the way).  And remember, the whole idea of communism was to support the worker for instance by guaranteeing them jobs.  

    Things are getting ugly with the price of oil.  I wouldn't be betting on airplanes in this day and age, unless Boeing pulls a rabbit out of their hat with biofuels (which they well might).
