2:17 will not get a scholarship for a man or woman. Man would have to be closer to 1:50 and a woman closer to 2:00 and even that might not give you a scholarship, cause they dont want to waste a sholarship on an 800 runner, they try to get a XC runner who can do the 800 or a 400m who can move up. Scholarships are limited, and they dont wast them on a one event person unless that person is going to win every meet- not just be competetive.

How's U. Of South Alabama? I remember them having a decent team

Male or female?  Eh, I'll just try to answer both...  For a male, you want to be consistantly under 1:55.  For  a female, I would guess that you can get some money at a decent D1 school such as mine (University @ Buffalo) with a 2:15 or better, although in the end, that decision is solely up to the individual coach.  If you are looking for a decent but not great program, look into the conferences that are classified as "Mid-Majors," such as the A-10, MAC, MVC, or others.  Wikipedia does a good job describing  what those schools are.  Good Luck.
