  1. wow, thats a slow school record(for high school)

Its only 4 seconds and if you have 3 weeks, that is plenty of time to train.  I dont feel like telling you a training plan, about 5 other people already have.

  2. You need to run intervals at your projected race pace to condition you r body to running at that speed.

One day do 5 or 6x200 at :38 with 2 minutes rest.

The next interval day run 3x400 at 1:16 with 5 minutes rest.

Try running 2x600 at 1:54 with 10 minutes rest.

If you want to run a time trial run 600 as fast as  you can, in race pace, rest for 1 minute and then sprint the 200, add the times together and that is what you should be able to do for the 800 race.

Do 3 days or intervals, or 2 days with one race, run easy 3 miles on the other days, take off one day.

3 weeks is enough time to drop 4 seconds in the 800.

  3. Train more, eat healthy, and keep tryin

  4. my gosh thats slow for highh school

  5. That's a slow time for any school record, whether you're a male or female. 3 weeks gives you plenty of time to prepare, and given your time, you definitely have a good chance of breaking 2:34. Following the below guidelines will help you shave seconds off future times:)

    Preparation outside practice:

You need to combine strength training with cardio to see optimum results in your performance. Do pushups, crunches, lifts, etc.; you can find variations of such strength exercises online. Variety is beneficial; it will truly challenge your body and take it to limits it has never reached.

    800m on race day:

Everyone paces oneself differently. If you're allowed to cut in right after the gun goes off, make sure you get a good start; don't let anyone elbow you in an attempt to push you back. If anything, elbow others:) Start out at a fast jog, and take it up a notch after the 200 mark. After your first 400, just hang in there; try not to slow down. When you come to your last straightaway, give it all you've got left. There's no one way to run for everybody; each person has his/her strengths and weaknesses. Try not to let yourself get psyched out. One saying I like to run through my head is "Pain is weakness leaving the body". It's a saying by the Marines, and it's great to think about when you're feeling mentally and/or physically exhausted during a race. Good luck!:)

  6. Just keep on training hard.  On the 800m race you have to really step up your running at the last 300 and give it all you got: don't hold back.  I hope you beat your school's record!
