Alright just bought a new boat well its an old boat a 1975. The first day I had it out it was fine, but did quite a bit of killing it and starting it, but the next time I brought it out when I would be abouth three quarters to full speed it would start to cut out, to me it sounds like a fuel problem, fuel pump maybe. But any help would be nice and any help letting me know how to fix it would be great..thanks

  1. Try cleaning the carb(s) and the spark plugs (or replace spark plugs), check your plug wires for damage, and check your fuel for water.

  2. ok do you have a water sepperator on the fuel line if you do change it

check the vent make sure its open and venting properly  could be a carb problem but lets not go there yet check the fuel filters first

  3. If you are planning to keep this engine for awhile, invest in a tuneup and repair manual. It will pay for itself many times over the life of the engine. Here is a site that sells them:

    http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/selo...

  4. I am not being a Smart A@@ but you really need a differnent brand of engine. You will be constantly working on this engine and it will breakdown on you on the water. Even a early 80's Evinrude will be many times more reliable.
