85 mustang just out of storage ?

i just bought an 85 mustang that has been in storage for 16 years i was just wondering wat probably needs replaced also the heater core was bypassed so how hard is it to hook the heater core back up? thanks

  1. If I were you, I would change all the seals and the heater core itslef.  It will be worth the $, time, and effort.


  2. The biggest thing will be seals.  Any seal that runs against a metal surface is at a High risk of failing. Some of these are: water pump, shocks, brake cylinders etc.  You should also replace all the hoses.  Longer term is suspension bushings.

  3. There had to be a reason why they bypassed the heater core. It either has a leak in it...or the heater controls are not working properly. As far as hooking them back up...that the easy part....a hose and hose clamp....push the water heater hose onto the fitting and clamp it down. After that you'll know why they disconnected it. It will either leak inside the car...or you will not be able to turn the heater off.
