Question:

86' Cadillac Deville, Doors are now "clicking"... power lock issue?

We recently purchased an '86 Cadillac Deville. I test drove the vehicle yesterday with no issues or complaints... yet today when it was dropped off... I turned it on and noticed both the passenger and driver side doors were making several large clicking noises... constantly.

Further examination led to the windows on the drivers side to get "stuck" and we were unable to unlock and open the drivers side door from the outside. The passenger side... while still clicking like the drivers... doesn't have these issues.

We're pretty sure that it has to do with the locking mechanism of some sort on the drivers side... but how would we even fix that? Could it be just a blown fuse?

We're good friends with the sellers and they didn't seem to have this issue at all prior to dropping it off (nor did I on the test drive)...

Any help, personal experience, or advice would be greatly apprectiated!

  1. Check the fuses, but it sounds more like a relay problem. You should be able to go to a Cadillac dealership and borrow the shop manual for a minute and look up where the relays are. They might even tell you.

  2. my answer is try to check it out first on auto repair shop..
