  3. I used to work for a dry cleaner in Mcminnville (not the one Mary Winkler worked for) that had a broken register, so we had to calculate the tax by hand

    the tax rate thing was 9.75% (that's the 7% state sales tax and %2.75 Mcminnville sales tax combined)

    it depends on where in tennessee you are, but local taxes usually range from 1% to 2.75% and also if it is a service, merchandise (7% state), or food (5.5% state) bc all of these have different tax rates.

    so if it is nonfood merchandise, the most you will pay is:

    ((.89)x(.0975))+.89= $0.98

    if its an unprepared food item:

    ((0.89)x( .0825))+0.89=$0.96

    either way it'll be under a buck
