89 ford ranger 2wd 2.9 running not so good

Question

The RPMs go up and down when warming up,Runs good until it gets warmer then heists going down the road. Code reader said EGR not opening no EGR in part stores.Did tune-up run good for a week then started doing it again need help with this i don't like driving a vehicle that runs like c**p

if you cannot find an EGR vavle for your truck, there is an alternative to fix the problem...find out where the EGR is located (most likely mounted on the intake manifold by the fire wall, and it looks like a UFO shaped thing with 2 bolts holding it down and little hose connected to it). Disconnect the hose from the EGR valve and get a bolt or s***w at the hardware store thats a little bigger than the opening of the hose itself. Stick the s***w into the hose and make sure its tightly in there, and this will block off the EGR all together and fix the problem until your ready to get it fixed...good luck
