  1. No sense in buying 8 GBs of ram unless youre running 64bit. Even with 4GBs 32bit XP will only address 3-3.2 GBs. Also, 2 sticks of ram overclock better than 4 sticks and puts less stress on the Northbridge chipset. I suggest you not buy that board. To install XP you need a floppy drive for the F6 SATA drivers. This board has no FDD connector on the board. Could buy an external floppy drive but getting a rig to boot off one is hit-or-miss and the drives are around $30.

People who bought the board, on the most part, dont like it, as shown in these reviews:

May want to look at this board instead:

Solid little board that is very popular and has a floppy connection on it which will make life a little easier for you. I'd run 4GBs of DDR2 1066 on it and forget about 8. Great overclocking board too.

  2. for what you need so much ? you don`t use it anyway...even if you stay with 20 applications open in the same time.

  3. Unfortunately not. Your XP SP3 is a 32 bit operating system restricted to 4GB of RAM. This also includes any extra memory from other hardware such as a graphics card. For example, if you have a 512mb graphics card you will only be able to run just under 3.5mb of ram.

There are only two ways round this. The first one is to install 64bit version  of windows XP which I beleive you can download for free with you original XP license. However, I do not advise this whatsoever. It is designed for university supercomputers working out intense mathematical sums. It is not designed for personal computing, and lacks driver support. Basically don't do it!

The other is to upgrade to Windows Vista. It may suck and take you a long time to work out how to use, but it will support your memory.

  4. Only the 64bit version of xp and vista will use all 8GBs, the 32bit versions only support up to 4.

  5. you have to get XP 64 bit the OS has to be a 64 bit program to use more then 4 GB of RAM

  6. you will have to use XP 64 bit which is only available as a Pro version.

Though there is no need what so ever to have 8 GB of ram even on Vista except for bragging rights

  7. I think it will but you will have to get the 64 bit version of windows xp.
