8mm camcorder tapes?

hi i wonder can anyone help.i got an old cannon video camera.that used 8mm tapes.now the camera is broke but i got afew tapes with recordings on i would like to put on to disc or my pc.but the problem i got is that i need like a 8mm tape player to use to transfer them.does anyone know if there is a player i can get and where to or how i can get around this problem.thanks in advance for any ideas thank you.

  1. lend a compatible 8mm camcorder and capture it that way via a tv capture card...only thing is sometimes other camcorders play at different speeds.

    Not true. It was true once that any Digital8 camcorder could read a Video-8 or Hi-8 and convert it inline to digital and send the signal up a FireWire cable to a computer for editing, but that's no longer the case. Sony now makes only one D8 camcorder, and that one can't backwards-convert. This time next year there won't be any new D8 camcorders on the market.
