My poor boy has sore front legs. I took him to the vet and he`s on tablets 4 ten days. If he doesnt get better he`ll need xrays. Has anyone experienced this? Im hopin he only hurt himself while playin & isnt anything serious but he`s been limping 4 a couple of weeks now.

  1. probably just broke or sprained something. those are mostly easy to fix though.

    best of luck ^^

  2. Why did the vet not take xrays before prescribing meds.

    this does not sound right

the baby has either broken a small bone, or pulled or injured his legs bad, the limping  is not good...what was your vet thinking, never heard of putting on meds, for limping dog without xrays

please take to another vet for 2ND opinion, it may save a costly vet bill in the long run,the longer it is let go, the worse the baby could get

should have been xrayed first for injuries........

good luck, and I am sorry your baby is hurting

please don't wait...needs help now...take to another vet, if you do, it may also save you some costly vet bills later.

  3. I have had labs for a long time now.  They play roughly and love to bounce around, but you have to be careful.

I also think you need the x-rays, but I'd get another vet, check around with other lab owners to see who they use because if it turns out to be a big problem, you want some one who will send you to an orthopedic vet.

In the mean time, don't allow him to play too roughly.  I had a friend whose lab had back leg problems and she had to keep Emma crated 24/7 for 6 months, so it can be done.  I wouldn't go that extreme, but I would keep him, on a lead when he's out and not let him run free.

Please do some research for your pup and get going with it. Lab legs are fragile if there is a injury.

    Best Wishes,

    Pat

PS What does the breeder say, have they had any of the same problems with any of their other dogs?

  4. give him lots of cuddles !!!!

  5. you may want to go for the radiographs.  There is a condition called OCD (Osteochondritis dessicans) that is very common in labs.  He is the right age for it to.  Check out this site: http://www.8pawsup.com/articles/labsocd....

If it turns out to be this is is correctable by surgery.

  6. hes obviously hurt as u sed he probably got it playing or something

  7. yes! get the exrays! 4 months old. go to another vet. What kind of tablets is a 4 month old lab taking anyway..He's probably got two broken front legs. or something in his paws!!!!
