  1. ya go out and be a kid... you only live once

  2. Make sure you keep your grades at the 4.0 from now till you graduate from high school.  Contact your local and state representatives now so they can get to know you and mentor you in your schooling.   You will need them to recommend you to the academy.  You will submit their letters of recommendation at the time you submit your application.   Good luck!

  3. Get to know your Congressional delegation and Senators and stay in touch with them. Their recommendations carry a LOT of weight. Let them know you're interested, ask them for advice (and listen). If they come to town, or within driving distance for an event over the next 4 years then get there and press the flesh (shake hands) and re-introduce yourself.

Keep your grades up, study hard.

  4. Just keep it up you should be fine.

  5. Take as many advanced classes as you can handle and study to get great grades.  You have to be a serious student.  Also make contact with your legislator.  They can help with an appointment.  Their staff can also advise you in other requirements.

  6. It is good that you are involved in those programs, extracurriculars are key.  Community involvement is also imperative, so that is great you are doing it.  You will need to get a letter of recommendation from I believe, your congressman.  So perhaps you should try and see what you can do to get that in the future.  Good luck!!!  Wish I had done what you are planning to do.

  7. You are doing good.  Now all you need to do is maintain it.  That's the hard part.  Keep those grades up!  If they start suffering because of your community activities, but back on the activities.  The grades count more.

  8. I think you will find much better info at their web site.

You are on the right track though. They look at the overall rounding out of the applicants.

Smart move to start checking now too. Was this your idea or did your Dad leave a mark where he smacked you??

If you ever get a chance too drop into an  USAF Officer Recruiting Station do so. There may be a ASAFA Grad working there.

    Good luck.

  9. maybe take another language after a few years of Spanish

  10. You are well on your way, and it's outstanding that you are already thinking about what you wish to do with your life.

I would suggest JROTC (doesn't matter what branch) if available at your HS.  Looks great on an Academy application.  As others have said, make sure your other activities don't kill your GPA-but a 4.0 isn't really necessary provided you're excelling in other stuff.  It's called the "Whole Person Concept".  Which means the AF isn't looking for bookworms, or jocks but someone who's a little of both, frankly.

CAP is good way to meet your state representatives BTW.

  11. I'm in High School and I'm apply for the Naval Academy, so I know something about applying to these schools.

First, there are really nothing you can do but to stay in shape as an 8th grader.  Then when you get to high school, do the best you can to bring up your academic grades, as the academies are very selective. Make sure you have extracurricular activities (Football team is awesome) and volunteering etc.

The true application process starts when you are in 11th grade. To begin, you better start researching about the AFA first. Then you can apply online. You'll need your Congressman/woman's nomination, teacher and councelor recommendation, Fitness accessment, and an intervirew, your SAT score.

If you got accepted as an candidate, they'll send you a checklist, then you'll know what to do.

This is basically what you have to do when applying to the naval Aca, and i dont thing it would be very different for AFA.

    Good Luck
