I am trying to get into S.I. Tech and Im studying from Barrons and Kaplan. If you got in, what score did you get. What were your scores on practice tests? If you used Barron's, was it harder or easier compared to shsat test?

  1. the test was honestly a joke, didn't study at all, fell asleep partway through the test, 570-600 on practice tests, 645 on the actual test, they just keep inflating the scores and allowing more idiots into the specialized high schools

  2. Hi.

Sorry, but I didn't get into Staten Island Tech, but noticed you had no answers, so I'll be happy to answer your question.

I am going to be a freshman at Stuyvesant High School this far, and I could give you a little info about what to study and stuff.

Staten Island Tech's cutoff score is pretty easy to handle if you have some background. Barron's is an awesome book to start off with. The SHSAT, to my surprise was pretty easy, but for some people was extremely hard. It really depends on your point of view. I would suggest using Barrons and ARCO books to study for the SHSAT. Also, I suggest using Kaplan books 1-3 weeks before the test day, because for me, the Kaplan books are easy, but VERY good review.

    Hope this Helps :)

  3. hi

i took the test and am currently attending stuyvesant high school

i know that most people needed to take some sort of prep course to get into a specialized high school

but if you study hard enough im sure youll be fine

about the practice tests....i normally got 560's and then on the actual test...although i thought was harder......i got a higher score than on my practice tests

    good luck
