i have a sister in 7th grade and she does not have a cell phone. she is getting one for her next birthday which will be in the middle of 8th grade. personally, i think she whould have one by now, but thats just me, its whenever my dad and step mom decide to give it to her

I'm in 8th grade and I have a cell phone.  I got it for Christmas in 7th grade. I think the age you get it at really depends on how responsible you are. You don't really need one until about 6th grade though, when it really comes in handy.

my sister is in the eighth grade and a lot of the people in her grade have cell phones [about 70%], but she doesn't have one. my parents were planning on giving her one before she starts high school because we're moving and she'll be able to still keep in touch with her friends. I got a cell phone before I started high school, during the summer.

I got a cell phone for christmas in 6th grade.... i think its a good year because your starting middle school and its a good time to show maturity and its kinda the age you start getting "boyfriends". Whereas my little sister is getting one in fifth grade only because i will be 16 and she might need to get in touch if i forget to pick her up or something..... Also if the childs parents are divorced i think its ok for them to get a cell phone at an earlier age.

I am a 7th grader and I do not have a cell phone even though all but one of my friends has one. I think I am getting one for my 13th birthday in September (I hope!!)
