(-9.0 x 10^9 N m2 C-2) x [(7e)^2 / 2m2]?

Can anyone work out the sum above? I don't have a scientific calculator.

Thanks in advance :-)

  1. You want the value of (-9.0 x 10^9) x 7^2 / 2

    It is

    -220.5 * 10^9 = -2.205 * 10^11

    I calculated without calculator. :)

    7^2 is 49. Multiply 49 with 9.

If you multiply 50 with 9, then you get 450. Subtract 9 from it. You get 441. That is 49 * 9.

You have to divide 441 by 2. It is 220.5

  2. There is no sum to work out.

    I can do the product.

Any calculator can do this, that's why scientific notation was invented. Multiply/divide the numbers, add/subtract the exponents

    9*49/2 = 220.5

    9-2 = 7

    answer is -220.5 e7
