i bought a very beautiful all white and aliitle yellow under the wings and tail feathers. i think its called a sulfur crested. She is very tamed does not bite what ever i do to it. ive even tried to make it bite me but nothing. the lady said she may have been abused so she had a couple feathers plucked from her breast but they are growing back very nice and fast. its a female. one thing is she is scared from alot of things like my right, a flash light (not on and on), anything i bring around her, an IPOD, almost everything. how can i make her feel comfortable around what shes scared of because she is clipped but will still try to glide around away from it and like try to keeps it away from her and scream alittle. she doesent like to play with her toys and the bird store owner said these are what the other ones love to play with. she loves to cuddle all day and just stick to u like Velcro. now ii want to know what can i cook for her she would like or what other cockatoos like. and i want a complete list of things and cant feed her i know a couple but then i hear alot more so i dont want to kill her i love her alot. she loves to dance and make her feathers go up but shes really stoped lately. i dont know if its becasue one she glidded off me maybe she saw something and got scared but hit the cage and two of her very first wing feathers came off and it was bleeding alot. she really been less of her since that. and she is growing is a new feather right by the ones that broke off. and i accidentally touced it and she screamed. is that why shes less of herself lately. and i want to teach her more words but i dont know whats the trick. i want to teach her other words casue she only says hi baby. i want to teachj her like hi and her name lucy and maybe a few persian words. im a guy. im 15. and i really need some help becasue im new to this but really devoted to just taking care of lucy and if u would please answer all my questions and even more like tips. ive had her for a month too. she likes to go on my shoulder to and she does come to me so gladly the hard parts over. please and thank you

  1. First your Cockatoo is still young she can live anywhere from 25 to 50 yrs. So you have plenty of time to teach her things, repeated words or phrases and she will just pick up different words you say during the day. New feathers are usually very sensitive.  If she lost a lot of blood that may be affected her. Usually when they break a feather it isn't enough to do damage. If you can you might try putting corn starch on the bleeding feather to stop it.  As for food, no Avacado, onions, garlic, raisens, caffiene or alcohol. Any fresh fruit or vegetable is good, Some noodles or brown rice, whole grains. Whatever is healthy for you is good for her, just not a whole lot of spices.  She might have scared herself by the little accident, it may just take time to recover. Just love her and feed her the right things and you will do fine.  Also make sure she also always has fresh clean water and a clean cage.  I change papers every day in my birds cages. I figure if they are stuck in a cage the deserve to have a clean home.
