9 hp boat motor...camping..?

Question

I'll be camping and the marina near the campsite offers a flat-bottom boat with a 9 hp motor. How fast could that go really? There will be 4 adults in the boat.

I remember we used to have (i think) a 55 or 75 Johnson in our old boat

Is the 9hp like a trolling motor?

its definitely not a trolling motor but i wont be near as fast as your old boats

It will not be fast. The lake may have engine restrictions. The insurance for the campground may limit the engine size also.

Depending on the size of the people you may want 2 boats.

A12' boat with a 9hp is not very safe either. It will run low and waves can come over the bow because the engine cannot get it on top of the waves.
