  1. i have 3 birds and none of them are laying eggs 1 boy 2 girls

  2. A. Could be an age issue. Depnding on teh breed of parakeet will depend on how long it takes them to reach sexual maturity.

    B. Stress. If there are that many birds, stress may be causing them not to ovulate and breed.

    C. Lack of area to lay. If they are unable to build a nest, the won't lay.

    D. That better be a d**n big cage for 9 birds!

  3. They need to be mated up. They should be kept one pair (1 m/1f) to the cage for breeding. How big of a cage do you have nine birds in? Just having nine birds doesn't mean that they will breed. You need a lot of things to get parakeets to breed. They might breed, probably not. There is so much more to it than to stuff nine birds in a cage together. The will need to be even pairs to start with. If you have that many birds surely you spend ten bucks on a good book about budgies? Go purchase a book on keets. They will be much more enjoyable than fumbling along and not knowing what to do with them or what they should be doing.

To me what is strange is someone having nine birds in one cage. You didn't say how many males and how many females? If you are not wanting to breed them why worry? Why have females and males together if you don't want them to breed?

  4. You sure you have boys&girls?

    They'd need somewhere to nest!

  5. im sure if you put a nest box in there and make sure they get around 14 hours of daylight a day they will most likely breed  goodluck! check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/parakeets.h... for good info on parakeets

  6. There are a lot of reasons for this. It depends on their age for one thing, if they are old enough to breed.

Another reason could be that they don't have mates. Parakeets aren't like dogs and cats that just mate with anything. They become a couple and build the nest and care for the babies together.

The biggest factor is probably space. Birds won't lay eggs if they don't feel they have a safe place to do it. If you want them to breed you need to spread them way out. Hopefully you have a very large cage for 9 parakeets, I know they cram them into cages at the pet store but that is very bad for them and shortens their lifespan.

    Good luck!
