Hi! I just found out I am 7 weeks pregnant! We have an 8 year old already. It has been 9 years since I was pregnant with her. My question is will my body act as if it has never had a baby before during labor or will I still have a birth as any second timer would? Has anyone had experiance with this? How did your labor go? The same? Faster? Thanks so much!

  1. Every woman is different. For me being pregnant was different each time no matter how many years between.  My third pregnancy was a girl, so the delivery was easier because she was smaller.

  2. My son was 9, and my daughter was 8, when I had my third child, and I worried about this, too... My body did not forget what to do; I'm convinced once you give birth, your bod NEVER forgets! Like riding a bike. :) It really was similar to the first, and second, but, of course, different, too, just cause all pregnancies are.

As for labor, I had her 8 hours after being induced, whereas with my first child, I was in labor for almost 18 hours, and with my second, I was in labor for almost 15... So, yes, it went faster. It really just depends, though, but I promise, you will remember, as soon as it starts up, again, and it really takes you back to the older days! ;)

My kids are now 10, 9, 17 months, and I'm due with our last, in Oct.! Good luck!!

  3. Unfortunately yes, it'll be like it's your first baby. The doctors will tell you that your body forgets after 6 years. I had my daughters 7 years apart. The second was a c-section so I'm sorry I don't have any advice on labor of the second. Congratulations!

  4. My mom had me at 24 then had my sister 15 years later at 39. She had more complications with my sister but everything turned out fine.
