This may be a quite confusing question so bare with me. Okay for my art project I'm doing this whole 90's fashion thing. Iv'e got all the clothes and what not its just when i take a picture of the model wearing them it still doesnt look like the picture is taken from the 90's. I dont know if anyone else has noticed, but when you watch a tv program from the 80's or 90's and compare it with modern tv the picture quality is different somehow? I can put my finger on whats different? Is it the color? Or the sharpness or whatever? But can you recreate that anyway on photoshop? Sorry if you are totally confused. =(

  1. Colours are brighter today than in the 90's. Try playing with the lighting and slightly diffused. Also what camera are you using? Forget digital and experiment with the old 35mm format, if you can.

  2. I'm no expert but i can relate to your observation regarding the TV programs' appearance. I think it's a mixture of reduced sharpness and less vivid colors. The technology used to photograph and film colors has become more accurate since then, so I'm guessing that has at least some part to play in it. I guess it could be the difference between 16 bit and 32 bit color quality.
