I'm leaving Panama a week after my 90 days as a tourist expire; What happens at the airport and what are the possible implications?

Does anyone know, I'm a bit stressed over that!

  1. Don't do that!!! You are punisable by Panaman law for up to 6 months of solitarty confinement!!! Try to get on a ship and flee the country!!!

  2. The worst that can happen is that when you try to re-enter panama as a tourist you will be denied entry because you overstayed your first visa. Nothing is going to happen on the way out, but if you try to come back the officials will see that you have overstayed your visa in the past and bar you from entering.

Why dont you just leave the week before and save yourself the headache?

  3. OK, first don't panic.  Second go to the immigration office in Panama City, pay for an extension, and you can leave the country.

If you go to the airport without having the extension done, I believe you can still pay a penalty, and leave the country.  However give your airline a call and ask them if you can pay the penalty at the airport.

    Good Luck!

  4. if you dont have a valid passport your not getting into the country its that simple so id get a move on and renew it!

  5. really depends on the person you see...some are willing to let it slide...you might be at customs for a looooooong time...bring a good book...

actually since you are leaving the country it mihgt not matter - you can get into trouble with pananma for being their without your visa...why would your homecountry care...
