My son, he is turn 9 years old next april... If he play on 900 yards golf course par 27 (all par 3), easily he can hit 4 over par for 9 holes. When he do tee off, he not use any tee on this golf course.

When he play on 2500 yards golf course par 36... it seem very difficult for him to play less than 6 over.

FYI, with his driver he can hit 170 yards contantly and straight.

I put many video for his swing and 1 video where he play 9 holes and I shot every single strokes. Please check http://www.youtube.com/jutas98

  1. Maybe take up tennis!

  2. Unless the wind moved the ball he got a triple Boogie on the second hole. So what's your point? He can play kiddie golf with all the other kids, OK I'll agree with that. Is he some kind of golf prodigy, no he's not doing anything any nine year old who has been playing can't do.

  3. I watched the video, and I am impressed, he looks pretty good. Keep in mind though that a 900 yard course is very short, even for being all par 3s. He should really get to the longer 2500 yard par 36 course more. Naturally, he will hit a higher score there (as relative to par), but that's what real golf is. 170 yards with his driver is a nice distance now, but pretty soon he'll really have to increase that distance if he want to excel in golf. What will really help him before he gets that distance though is that he won't be able to reach most greens in regulation, so it will really force him to get up and down for pars, which is a great thing to practice.

Best of luck to your son!

  4. Agree with Bill C.

But he would benefit from challenging himself on the longer course.

Also make him pull his own trolley!!!

  5. By my count he hit 3 greens in regulation and had 15 putts, very nice. He has a nice putting stroke and good short game. A few more greens in regulation and he will score much better. Longer courses will get easier as he grows and get stronger. He has had some very good coaching. He seems like a nice happy kid. Good Luck!
