Is that a long distance to run between 4 people?

We're having sports day tomorrow and I've been made to do the 900m relay with 3 other people. Would I be able to sprint the whole of my bit?

  1. 4x900? never heard of that

thats 225m each which isnt that much longer then a 200 m

After 100m you may think you've reached your  top speed but trust me if your properly executing the sprint you should be actually speeding up from the momentum . use your arms to pump and be careful exchanging the baton..if your in a semi competitive sports day they may be using many of the relay dequalification standards

    good luck :)

  2. Thats a weird length lol. That is 225 meters per person -not far at all to run. (It is just over 1/2 a track lap) You should be able to sprint the whole thing, in track that would be considered a sprint. however, if you dont run it might not be easy. I would suggest for the first 100 meters or so just hold your place in the relay or go not a full out sprint and then with 125-100meters left sprint as fast as you can.

  3. I have never heard of such an even as the 900m relay. I suspect, though, that it may be a modified Sprint Medley Relay where the legs are 100, 200, 200, 400. this would total 900m. the normal sprint medleys, however, are 100,100,200,400 or 200,200,400,800.

  4. it's probaly a relay medley were some runs a 100m then a 200m then a 200m then a 400m it makes sense and equals 900m

  5. This is not a traditional relay, and I am not sure how it is going to work on a track.

If this is correct then each runner should be able to sprint their entire part of the race.

Perhaps you are not running on a track but on the school yard or grass.

This is not a long distance even if each runner did 900 meters.

  6. its a 4x900?

You will able to sprint your part in a 4x900 since that'd be 225m.  Just a tad longer than 200m.  Once you're halfway, even if you feel you're going top speed, push more.  Try to quicken your turnover and pump your arms but make sure to keep your shoulders down.  Don't want them to tense.

  7. I HAVE NEVER, EVER! HEARD OF 900 M RELAY! 800 BUT NOT 900!
