I just got hired and i start this friday! I have some basic questions i would like to ask...

First off-How do you feel about your job? Do you like it? Hate it?

-How do breaks work in training/ and when out of training? Are smoke breaks allowed?

-Do you make decent money?

-Mandatory overtime?

-Whats the turnover rate like in your agency?

Thanks so much!

  1. You go in there thinking you are going to make a difference, change the world, etc., and reality hits you in the face-you will be mistreated, people will be cruel to you, and you have to remain professional. It's okay for a year, but all the verbal abuse and sad events take their toll-in my dept., those who don't make it quit within a week, and those who make it have been there over 10 years. Let me tell you, these people are mean and grouchy because they hate people after everything they have dealt with.

$ is very good, o/t is mandatory only when no one volunteers to do it. Smoking is allowed only during one's break.

I work with two lesbians who are more manly than girly. They do just fine, just be yourself, you are who you are!

    Good luck!!!!

  2. Look, I am no dispatcher. But Im also concerned.. i wonder if they are surprised by the things they hear, the panic and the tone of peoples voices! And i seriously DONT know how they can stay so calm..

  3. Most of these questions you ask should have been settled before you were hired.  Did you do your homework on salary and perks? As for your being L*****n,  so the h**l what. As long as your behavior is appropriate and professional, it doesn't matter what you do in the bedroom.  EEO laws protect you and everyone else even if they are not L*****n.
