92 jeep cherokee rear main seal 1 or 2 peice?

i have a 92 jeep cherokee with in-line 6 4.0 i have to replace the rear main seal i was wondering if anyone knew if its a 1 piece or 2 piece, how difficult is it going to be to do?

  2. Well, I  might take issue with the "Not Difficult at all"!!! Can you do it as shown in those articles, you bet..Not difficult..uh...plan and a COMPLETE afternoon, but to save $500 go for it! It is the simple things that make NOT DIFFICULT...a challenge.Like sliding the pan back up and not damage that gasket and keeping it in line...or lining up 20 bolts. Do NOT TIGHTEN the bolts until all are started and a touch of gasket material or maker at the timing chain cover to oil pan intersection is a good idea. Use a torque wrench to reinstall that bearing cap.  Look at the old bearing half. At this age, there is a bit of wear here. If it is worn through to the copper, it would be an EXCELLENT time to replace all the  bearings main and rod and yes, you  can do this from below with the enging installed. Add around two more hours for this procedure.
