  1. our boat did that one time... its either old gas. or you need to clean out the carberator on it... you can tell if its old gas by pulling the choke back just a tad while your giving it gas to get more gas flowing through the engine. this works cause the choke allows more gas and air to flow... i hope this helps... i know how frustrated you must be with that.

  2. Hey Steve,

You picked my answer yesterday... I'm sorry that it is not as simple as an obstruction.

I've got two other things for you to check...

Your statement about revving up then cutting back like a limiter rang a bell...

These yamaha jetski's ARE equipped with a limiter that will not allow you to go fast if it is overheating.  I was hoping this was not your case, but it appears that it may be.  It could be a few things internally.  Don't run it anymore until you find the culprit, or you will be looking for a new engine...

    First Suspect:

Is it oil injected or pre-mixed?

If it is oil injected, I would be leary that the pump may be bad, not giving it enough oil, causing it to overheat.

If pre-mixed, make sure you are mixing it correctly (50:1)

    Another suspect:

My waverunner was not flushed each time it was taken out of the salt water by the previous owner, and the insides had started to corrode and get clogged.  There were also signs that the previous owner was using it in shallow water or beaching it while it was running from the massive amounts of sand inside.  I was able to fix by taking the motor out, ordering new gaskets for it, taking the motor apart and cleaning it out.  It took a lot of work, but the end result was a working jetski again.

Drop me a line if you need any other help with this... I know how it feels to want to get it back in the water!!

    Hope this helps!
