93' BMW 325i AC goes in and out.

The AC fan on a 93' BMW 325i works. Except sometimes it doesn't. I will get in the car and the AC Blows.. Other times I have to hit a bump big enough and it will start to blow. The Freon thingy is working whether or not the the blower is on or not.

What to do to fix this ?

  1. When you say AC fan, do you mean the blower  inside the car or the auxillary fan in front of the radiator?

If it is the blower  then you either have a bad AC final stage (that glorified set of relays that replaced the old style resistor bank), or a bad blower motor, or the wires are loose (which I doubt).

  2. It sounds like you have an electrical short if you can hit a bump and it start up, that or your blower motor is slowly going out.  Its not actually to bad to get to and see if you have some wiring going bad.  If your doing this yourself, which can be done by the average do it yourself-er. . .Just take your windshield wipers off, then the grill just at the base of your windshield.  From there you will see a couple covers and under the cover is your blower motor.  If it is your blower motor check ebay, I see them on there all the time for low prices.  Turn it on though first and be safe of course, and wiggle some of the wires to see if it turns off and on at all.  Good luck!
