My husband has a 93 GMC turbo 2500 6.5 diesel and it runs okay, great mileage but when he turns off the engine and tries to restart it wont start for a while (hour or so). To make it start he has to cool it down. The glow plug light comes on when it is cold but it don’t come on when it is hot.

He loves this truck and he is going to bring it in to mechanic but I just want an ideal.

What could be the problem? Have you dealt with something like this? What did you do?

  1. Hi
I had a similiar problem and removed the plastic cover over the pump area, this allows more cooling and worked for a while.
I eventually replaced both the pump and the injectors.
I believe the fuel viscosity is lowered with the engine heat and a weak pump
    won't make enough pressure.
a cold damp cloth (souns like a flathead problem)will prove the heat theory.
