I have a 1994 Honda Prelude with a factory car stereo (Alpine) installed. An external CD player was also installed by the dealer (it's installed above the stereo in the dash). The CD player is connected to the stereo with an eight pin din connector/cable. When this cable is connected, a switch (AM/CD on the front of the stereo) allows one to select either the CD player or the AM radio. If this cable is disconnected, this switch will only select AM radio.
The CD player has not worked for many years and I decided to replace it with a different player. I decided to use the 8 pin din cable and had to remove it internally from the CD player. I found and noted the pinout for this cable (it was silkscreened on the pc board at the PC edge mating connector). The signal descriptions are as follows;
L. = Signal Left
R. = Signal Right
S.C. = Signal Common
Acc = 12 VDC Accesory Power
BAT = 12 VDC Battery Power
GND = Ground
BUS = Buss
BUS. C = Buss Common
I have been able to resolve all of the connections for the above signals to my new CD player except for the "BUS" and "BUS.C" signals. Without these signals connected, the "AM/CD" switch on the stereo front panel only selects AM radio, so I therefore do not get any signal input from the CD player.
My question is this...
Should I connect the Bus signal wire to 12 VDC to indicate the presence of the CD player or does this signal require some other format?
