94 SeaDoo SPI How to...?

Just got my wife a 94 SeaDoo Spi to play with this summer. We have a couple of boats but last year we also had a jet ski that she loved. I didn't know how much she liked it until I sold it..OOPS. Never the less, while taking our boat to our dock this week I found a 94 SPI that was a pretty good deal so I picked it up for her. Problem is I know very little about SeaDoo. The person I got the ski from said it has set for 2 years after being winterized and he knew the battery was dead but knew nothing else about it. I got a new battery yesterday that I have charging now. I know there is a way to run water to the motor and start it like that, but I can't find the hose hook up? Anyone know where that is? Also, I know this ski mixes its own oil and gas, is there a specific oil that I should buy (I got Pennsoil Marine yesterday) will that work? Any input you have will help alot, thanks in advance and best wishes!

  1. Change the spark plugs, add fresh gas and oil (Penzoil is ok), install the battery, and fire it off. Don't allow it to run more than 10 to 15 seconds on the trailer, don't try and hook up a cooling hose (if you don't do that right, it could allow water into the cylinders), then go to the water.

If it was properly winterized, it will be fine. I would advise you use at least a 100 to 1 pre-mix in the first tank of gas, then consider blocking off the oil pump and running a straight 40-1 mix. Old pumps tend to fail, and give no notice!
