  2. Install the cylinder head bolts. Tighten bolts Nos. 1 through 8 following the proper sequence as listed below:

    Step 1-45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm)

    Step 2-65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm)

    Step 3- (again) 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm)

    Step 4-additional 1/4-turn

    Do not use a torque wrench for Step 4.

    Inspect the bolt torque after tightening. The torque should be over 90 ft. lbs. (122 Nm). If not, replace the cylinder head bolt.

    Tighten bolt No. 9 to 25 ft. lbs. (33 Nm) only after bolts 1-8 have been tightend to specification.
