i have a 94 honda civic that wont start in the morning but starts fine in the afternoon when the humidity is gone. what could be wrong. I try to turn on and it sounds like it want to turn on but it wont. Sometimes after several time of trying it finally turns on. once i return from work in the afternoon it starts fine. i have a feeling it may be the humidity in the air in the morning. Could it be the battery or fuel pump or fuel filter?

  1. i would suggest you wipe the distributor cap ,plug leads , if they are dirty they will hold moister good luck h

  2. sounds like your car might be mexican...

  3. your ignition might be drawing damp or the gas filter could be dirty.

  4. i face a problem b4. try this out.. use up all the petrol in the tank..make sure u have a spare gas in the car.. problem due to moisture in the tank.. coz the problem..

or u should check on your fuel pump..

    good luck mate!!!!

  5. I think you have a moisture problem in you engine. Moisture gets on your engine overnight, and once the air temp heats up, it evaporates.

Does the Civic have a distributor and cap (some cars are distributor-less, like Subarus). If it's not your relay, I think it could either be moisture getting into your distributor or moisture getting into your spark plug wires.

1.. Check your distributor cap and see if there is an obvious crack in it or take it off and look at the gasket where it seats. Is the gasket warped, twisted or cracking? Also see if you can see any moisture on the distributor itself. One way to check this (without replacement yet) is take off the distributor cap and dry the distributor housing itself with a hair dryer. If it is a moisture problem, your car will start right up. Then replace your distributor, cap and gasket with a new set.

    2. If that doesn't work check your spark plug wires or just change them with new ones. If they have been on the car for a while they get brittle allowing moisture to get into the cracks. Whola, a non-starting engine.

A relay will cause these symptoms, but it isn't always the relay. Whoever told you it was the relay, should have tested these two things first. Proceed with caution with this person as they took your hard earned cash.

I hope one of these suggestions helps. Cheap and easy.
