I have a 94 jeep grand cherokee limited and the transmission doesn't work in any of the forward gears... only in reverse. When I put it in drive, first or second it acts like it's in neutral. There was no warning noises when it first happened... no grinding, slipping or whinning noise. Is it likely to be a transmission control module TCM? I'm tired of driving backwards.

  1. i drive a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee..  the ZJs are pretty tough.

what sort of engine do you have and what transfer case do you have..

if you don't know how to answer the transfer case question then just tell me what driving modes you have i.e.: 2wd hi, 4wd part-time, 4wd-lo neutral just tell me EVERY setting that you have next to the gear shift.

it it doesn't have a selector then you don't have a transfer case

  2. Check your transmission fluid on level ground and see if it is properly full.  If that is good I would say you have a bad pump in the trans, and it is shot.  You will have to have it rebuilt or install a used one.  Chrysler product transmissions suck, that is all there is to it.
