95'neon coolant bubbling?

i have a 95' plymouth neon sohc with 66k and i just had the thermostat and water pump replaced and every time i shut the car off after running it for a while the coolant is bubbling does anyone know what this is?some one said head gasket and another person said the radiator cap isnt sealing so air is getting in it any help please thanks

  1. Both are possible. See, the reason that coolant does not bubble is because its under pressure. The higher the pressure on a liquid, the higher boiling point is. So if your cap is not sealing, or you have a head gasket blown in the right place, it can cause the cooling system to not be able to hold pressure, thus the boiling point of the liquid remains what it is at atmospheric pressure and will boil when the engine heats up.
