Hey all...I just swapped my engine with a JDM VTEC and i seem to be having some weird problems and the mechanics around me are stumped too...I seem to know more than them and that isn't much :(

The car Idles erratically. It is consistent however. It sells in at idle between 800-1200 RPM When i am driving there are no issues with that but the acceleration is intense. When I shift into gear it wants to take off all hard. There seems to be no difference between barely touching the gas pedal and pushing it to the floor. So while driving if I let off the gas the car lets out real hard and wants to slow down and I guess that is normal but if I touch the gas again the car jolts so I can not hold the gas pedal to cruise. As long as i touch that pedal the car is accelerating and quickly at that.

Other noticeable things:

-The exhaust is rich with gas fumes.

-speedometer is intermittent since the swap.

-Intake is loud as h**l...not like before.

  1. you have a big vacuum leak, and also a possibly bad IAC solenoid, on the back of the intake manifold

the speedometer issue is probably the countershaft speed sensor or connector is bad

check for stiffness in the throttle cable/pedal linkage

are you running any kind of air filter? it sounds like you have a large air leak somewhere.......
