95 Ford Taurus 4 Speed...?

Question

it wont shift into overdrive so on the freeway the RPMs are so high i dont even want to drive it on the highway...any idea why it wont shift into overdrive? thanks to any and all info and answers!

Is the trans. fluid level okay?  Silly question but the O/D off button is not engaged, is it?

If it's an automatic, you have three positions for forward motion on your shift lever.  Put it in the one closest to Neutral.  That's the N.  Just below the N.  If it doesn't shift into overdrive in this position, check your transmission fluid level.  If that's OK, you likely need a transmission shop.

Did you just buy this car?  If so it's actually a 5-speed.  You need to push down on the gear shift, while shifting, to get it into 5th.
