My mother has a 1995 Windstar. The other morning she noticed that the drivers window was down(She was sure she had closed it).Shortly after starting the engine, the windshield wipers and washer came on by themselves and would not turn off.She turned the engine off and a few seconds later the drivers window went back up on its own.I told her to stop at thew first garage that she seen where they quickly told her that they had no clue. She came over and I pulled the fuses(#18 & 34).About 30 seconds after I did this, the lock on the sliding door engaged and disengaged about a dozen times and stopped.Any ideas? Is it possessed?HELP

  1. it is not bad wiring the windstar has what is called a gem module that controls all those functions and it has packed it in will have to be programmed in and it is part of thye fuse panel

  2. There is a short in the wiring harness, most likely somewhere in the steering column.  Good luck finding it! They can be a bear to track down...

You might start by looking for wear on the cables and wiring conduits...

  3. I had a caravan that did funny stuff like that and it endedup being just a bad connection on the battery terminals. You can look at the terminals and clean them up and see if that helps.

  4. Like mentioned, there is obviously some wiring that is open in the dash harness where these circuits meet up on the way to the fuse panel, under the dash.

  5. well id be guessing you have a short.... if it keeps doing it over and over... but one wipers and door locks are not together... so with the fuses back in is it still doing it now... running down a short is hard for most to do.. but one fuse in and wait then put the other back in.... if it keeps doing it best you find a shop that is good on shorts
