  1. A bad heater core. It's not an easy fix. You can pull the heater lines off and hook them together under the hood to bypass it until you're ready to replace the core.

  2. It could be a head gasket, a/c condensor bad.

  3. 99% of the time when you get whitish smoke from the defrost vents, it's a bad / leaking heater core. I assume you're running it on AC now? It would cool the fumes, and make them white. Do you smell a sweetish odor? That's a dead giveaway it's the coolant, usually. Not sure if the newer coolants ( non-green types ) smell the same way, though. But if it has a sweet sickly smell, it's coolant for sure.

Best thing to do is connect the two heater core hoses off the firewall together until you can get it fixed ( before winter ). Good luck!

  4. Ok, this is a first for me to ever hear about. What  would suggest is to keep an eye on the coolant level. Then is there a coolant leak from the heater core?
