Hi,

I have a 95 Nissan Altima with a 5 speed manual trans. The car has 165K miles on it. About a year ago I started hearing a strange grinding / deep clicking noise coming from the transmission. It only does it when the clutch is out. The only way I can get it to stop is if I push the clutch in.

I just replaced the pressure plate, clutch and throw out bearing hoping that would solve the problem, but it did not change a thing. It still make the same grinding / deep clicking noise.

It has gotten considerably louder over the last year and I think something is about to give.

any advice you can give would be great.

Nick

  1. Sound llike you might need to service and drain the transmision gear oil and then check for metalic debre in the oil.  If there is  a large amount of metal in the oil then it probably has  some gears eating themself or a worn bearing in the transmission
