hi i just bought a 95 chevrolet cavalier for going to college and back. the car does not have ac. the last owener said he thought it did work and that it just needed to be recharged. i was looking under the hood for wires or other things that might have been loose. i found a wire that is connected to the tank. it is not connected to anything else and i think if i find where to plug it in i will have ac in my car...i live in central cali. so right now its burning up and i really need ac.

if you know where to find an ac diagram, could please let me know?

thank you.

  1. have you tried a Haynes book from autozone or another parts shop the have wiring diagrams.

  2. The suggestion of either a Hayes or Chilton's manual are good. The tank you are referring to is more likely the accumulator and the wire is probally the limit switch wire. If it isn't connected the circuit will not be complete and the AC will not work. If you get all wires hooked up and the system doesn't run, it is probally low on refrigerant, and with out proper tools you will have a tuff time getting it to work. Id suggest taking to a reputable repair shop for a quick system check. get an estimate of reapirs, if they give you a detaled explanation of the problme you may be able to do some of the repair your self. good luck.

  3. yes, alldata pro has very good diagrams. i could e-mail you copy. also what do you mean by "tank" where is this located?

  4. A wire connected to what tank ?? I don't know of any tank on an a/c system. If the a/c system is low on refrigerant it will not turn on. You need to have the system pressure checked.
