1995 chevy silverado 1500 with the 5.7 auto. My truck was running fine and when i pulled up to a stoplight last week it died. I had trouble getting it restarted and then had to 2 feet it home.

It takes a bit to start at first, and once i had to prime it. But it will start and idles just fine. But if i turn the AC on, or put it in gear. or put any strain at all on the engine it will start to hesitate and die. When i try to drive it it wants to die, i can floor the pedal the truck will hesitate for awhile and slowly pick up RPMS, once its above 1800-2k RPM it runs like normal. Highway driving is normal runs great. Anytime i stop tho, i have to use 2 feet to keep it running by pumping the gas pedal otherwise it will just simply die.

So far i have, changed spark plugs, wires, fuel filters and cleaned the injectors. I have checked all vacuum lines (that i can think of). I have all the tools and have worked around cars for awhile but i cannot seem to get this thing fixed. I think im overlooking something.

  1. TPS is a possible but not likely since you mention no off idle hesitation. I'm more willing to suspect the distributor. These years had problems where the distributor magnet breaks and gets weak enough not to trigger the spark module. A rebuilt distributor should solve your issue. If you were to remove the cap and rotor you could look closely at the "star wheel" on the distributor and see the cracked magnet.

  2. Throttle position sensor

    and MAP sensor
