95 cutlass ciera leak?

Gfs 95 cutlass ciera has a gas leak. When you start the car it starts alot of dripping. Seems to me it would be after the fuel pump once it starts pumping theres a leak in a hose. How akward would it be to change that, where would I get that tubing, and how much would it cost?

It isn't hard to replace the hose. You'll need a new hose and new clamps which can be purchased at any auto parts store.

If it's leaking from a fuel line, the first thing that you have to do is determine if it's the feed line or the return line. Then, is it coming from the steel line that runs the length of the car or the rubber hose that comes from the fuel tank or filter. The fuel injection systems in today's cars are fed at a much higher pressure than the old carburated systems were. This being the case, If it's leaking from the feed line, you CANNOT use regular rubber fuel line hose to repair it. You must use rubber hose specifically made for fuel injected systems, and only in short lengths-not more than about 6" or so, and, use 2 clamps on each end of the repaired area to prevent leaks under pressure. The best way to repair the feed line is to get a preformed replacement at an auto parts store, but, you can use the high pressure rubber line in a short length. Just don't use it in more than one place. The high pressure hose costs a little more than the regular stuff, but, it's cheap insurance against having it burst and spray gas all over.

If it's leaking from the return line, you don't need the high pressure hose to repair it. The pressure in the line has been reduced by the regulator and is not an issue on the return side. You can get it at any auto parts store for about a buck or so per foot.

Either way, the bad section of line needs to be cut out with a small tubing cutter, since it's a steel line. If you don't have one, you can get one for a few bucks at a hardware or auto parts store,

The easiest wat to tell the difference between the feed and return lines is that the feed line will run through the fuel filter, the return line does not.

If the leak is at the fuel filter,get a new seal for it.
