there's a round metal thing on top of fuel pump which i'm guessing is a regulator or something? can that be replaced because that is my problem when i hit that it starts and then it acts like its going to shut off and i hit it again and it starts going good. i shut it off and then it won't start again unless i hit that piece. any ideas?

  1. That is indeed the pump

  2. that's the pump causing that to happen, you do have to replace them when their doing that ,if not it will shut off on you while your driving it,you have to drop the tank to get to it though, but its not a hard job to do if you got someone helping you,its really hard to do by your self though, good luck.

  3. thats the fuel gauge sender thats not your problem its the fuel pump attached to it you will need to replace it as soon as possible and put a new inline filter on the vehicle running low on fuel all the time and clogged fuel filters are the number one reason why pumps go out. i recommend changing the filter every 30,000 miles and keeping above a quarter tank of fuel all the time.
