Ok its a 95 2.3l automatic ford ranger and it is only getting 17.5 miles to a gallon and i know it can do better than that because its a 4 cyl and also i keep grtting a code for insufficent egr flow could that cause it or is there anything else that could cause the poor fuel milage. I really need help especially seeing how gas is not cheap.

  1. i know what your feeling, i drive a 93 ranger that's a manual and it only gets on average 14 miles to the gallon!

  2. Well first things first...u DO need to check out the EGR valve and the hoses there.

Next. Since u r getting a poor gas mileage it is always a good idea to do a little tune up. Replace ur sparplugs, check their wires. Replace a fuel filter(might be a little clogged up so i would say it is time) Replace ur air filter, the easier and more free the airflow is the less gas ur truck will use to run. Once u r done with all that make sure u have the right and good to go tire pressue in ur tires. All these things should help you out, hope it all works out.
