Mechanic has checked it out but can't seem to find the problem! It almost sounds as if it might be coming from the front wheel area. It doesn't make the sound unless the vehicle is moving!

  1. I sounds like dirt or a tiny pebble stuck between the rotor and brake pad, get a can of brake cleaner and pull one wheel off at a time and spin the rotor and spray it down, but while the wheel is off should make it easy to pinpoint where the noise is coming from, I live on a gravel road and it happens to me a few times a year.

  2. Like the above check the pads, but also check the rubber bushings for the shock absorbers and the torson bar as these may be worn or loose. to verify spray with silicoln lube to see if sound disapperas temproarly.

  3. I'll also go for the brake pad.  I had one that was not seated correctly in the caliper of my 96.It made a low metallic sound when I was driving at low speeds and especially when I turned at a stop sign.
