I drive a '97 dodge caravan, lots of miles on it (upwards of 165k). But, the car has been running GREAT. No engine trouble - nothing. I felt completely confident to drive a distance. So I drove about an hour from my house. I came to an intersection where I needed to make a right turn. There was a bit of an upward incline going into the turn and then once I made the turn, I would go over a kinda steep bridge. Mind you, NO transmission probs before this. All of a sudden, I'm accelerating, trying to continue up this incline and the engine starts racing. Every time I try to restart and go forward, I'm rolling backwards down the hill. It won't kick into gear. The fluid levels were fine when I left the house. What the heck did I do wrong!?!? What's the problem here and is it terribly expensive to fix? But, I'd think there'd be some sort of warning..like idk skipping or trouble shifting or something before just...kaput. It had to be something sudden. All the gears are Neutral.
