I have a 97 grand am se 2.4 l. I'm experiencing a water leak. I drove from North Carolina to Florida and had a huge puddle of water in the rear passenger side floor board and the carpet in the front passenger seat area was soaked. Today I removed the glove box and pulled back the carpet. I ran my AC and discovered where the water was coming from.

I took this picture of where it comes from: http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/7222/img00214vg1.jpg

It is in the far left of the passenger side floorboard almost behind the center area that holds the radio, ect. Water is leaking from the black panel shown in the picture. Please help me!

  1. i would go with heater core. the easy way to do it is to just bypass it. go into the engine bay and look for 2 heater tubes feeding into the firewall. disconnect and run a u shaped piece of rubber tubing on it. downside is you wont have a heater in the car anymore

right way is to replace the heater core which dependin gon the vehicle could mean pulling a good deal of the dashboard apart

  2. your drain is plugged i don't know how to fix it but your best bet take it to a reliable air conditioning place and that's what they will tell you and it does not cost alot i had to have it done to a couple of my cars

  3. What is happening is condensation from the AC unit leaking into the passenger compartment. There is a drain that is supposed to allow the water to go out onto the ground, and if that is clogged by debris, the water has no where to go.

You will have to go under the car (easier to do with the car on a lift, but you can use jack stands and crawl under) and locate the drain tube. Either use compressed air or a thin rod to clear the drain tube, and your problem is solved!

  4. turn on your heater on defrost, is there a fishy smell in your car and does your window fog up? if so its probably your heater core. other than that im not sure.
