ruled out battery, connections, grounds, ignition switch already. starter will spin when i jump it directly, but the engine is not turning. could this be a neutral safety switch issue?, or is there something wrong with my starter?

  1. it could be the safety switch or the starter it self could be sticking, they do sometimes.

  2. check starter relay and solinoid and check large wires going to the starter

its probably not nutreal safty switch problum

  3. The starter spins but doesn't turn the engine? Has to be in your starter.Starter drive not kicking in. Bad starter solenoid or drive. Could be a broken flywheel.

  4. you might want to check your coil

  5. I guess the starter doesn't spin with the key,so it could be the starter or the neutral safety switch. You said when you jump it straight off the battery it spins but the motor doesn't spin. There are two hot leads for a starter, one large one that spins th starter motor, and a smaller one that pops the gear out. if you have power to both these leads and the gear doesn't pop out, the starter is bad. Otherwise, check the safety switch
