I have a 98 eclipse gs with an engine that is wearing out, and would need to be replaced. I may be getting a new car soon, and was wondering what I might be able to get for this one. I would prefer not to go with a junkyard, as I probably would only get about 100 dollars for it, but I don't know if I could get more for it as a parts car... Basically, just hoping someone might be able to give me an idea of what I might get for it

  1. You can probably part it out, but it's a pain in the neck.

You can donate it and claim the donation on your taxes.

  2. With a blown engine, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.  I would join some Internet forum groups for Eclipse owners and see if you can either part out the individual parts for it ( you will make more money that way but it will be more time consuming ) or just sell the entire vehicle.  As a complete parts car, you may get a few hundred dollars for it depending on what condition the body panels, interior, transmission, etc. are in.  Another option would be to sell it to a junk yard.  They may give you 50 or a 100 bucks for it and tow it away for free.

  3. sell it as a "shell."  could probably get $1,000 for it depending on the body condition.  Tell them that you are including a motor so that it is driveable.

or put a good motor in it and sell it for $2500 (should sell quick).
