im having a big problem with my 99 taurus. when i put my car into the drive position and press lightly on the gas the car will not move. when i press harder on the gas petal it will make a roaring noise and the rpm will go way pass the number 4 and the car will jump and move just a little. the car will trickle along very slowly. when im at red lights my car will not move it will just sit while im pressing the gas lightly for it to move the car just stalls and it will move once again when i press firmly on the gas petal. at first when i started the car and put it into drive it did stall but it would go about 10 mph and then something would jump under the car and cause the car to jump and then the car would move normally. help me please.

  1. You need to take it to a trans shop.

  2. Check the transmission fluid. I think it needs some added. Have the car parked on level ground and start it then pull the dip stick for the transmission out and clean it off then stick it back in and pull it out and check the level. It is supposed to be checked when the oil is hot. If it needs oil don't fill it full cold. Let it warm up and top it off later. Make sure you get the right kind of transmission fluid, for a Ford. Good luck.

  3. These cars have transmission problems. I have a friend who had to change it twice for a total of three transmissions. Yes, the trans is bad. Take it to a shop. You're not going to be able to fix it yourself. Must be fun to be behind you at a stop light.

  4. this car has a transmission light did you check it out when it came on if not you burned up the transmission and they cost 1800+ to fix   but i would start with checking the fluid and changing the filter if you are doing the work yourself

  5. sounds like the transmission is shot and needs to be rebuilt
